The Department of Health & Kinesiology at Purdue University seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position in Exercise Physiology to begin fall 2018. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Health & Kinesiology or related field, have appropriately (2+ years) postdoctoral experience, and show evidence of scholarship in the area of exercise physiology (broadly defined). An independent line of research with potential for attracting extramural funding is expected at the assistant level, and evidence of extramural funding is expected at the associate level. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to and expand our nationally recognized program through grantsmanship, scholarly publications, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, advising graduate students, and serving on departmental, college and/or university committees. There are ample opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations within the department, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and campus-wide emphasis areas (e.g. obesity, cancer, gerontology, children/adolescents, disease prevention, imaging, engineering). Professional collaborative opportunities and pilot funding also exist within the NIH-supported Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (www.indianactsi.org); the A.H. Ismail Center for Health, Exercise, and Nutrition (http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/hk/ismail/); Discovery Park (http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/), the Cooperative Extension Programs of Health and Human Sciences (http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/extension/); and over 100 Centers at Purdue (http://www.purdue.edu/research/centers-institutes-cores/list.php). The Department of Health & Kinesiology is one of nine units in the College of Health & Human Sciences and is home to over 700 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students. Purdue is consistently ranked among the leading research institutions in the country and has the second largest international student population among U.S. public universities.
