The Institute of Public Health (IPH) of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, wishes to appoint a full-time faculty member to contribute to its teaching and research activities in public health and occupational health. It is likely that the appointment will be at the rank of assistant professor.
We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience and achievements in Public Health or Occupational Medicine.
Applicants should have a track record in teaching at undergraduate and advanced postgraduate level including designing curricula, overseeing courses and supervising student projects. The successful candidate will contribute to programs of undergraduate and graduate teaching, including the MPH and PhD programs and professional training. The IPH has a thriving graduate teaching program and currently has 11 PhD students and 42 MPH students.
Furthermore, they should be accomplished in conducting and supervising research. It is expected they will have published their research findings in reputable journals. A key requirement for the successful candidate will be to initiate and be the principal investigator for research projects relevant to the health of communities in the UAE. There are good opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in the College of Medicine and other UAEU colleges in addition to local and regional institutions. Particular importance is attached to developing strong links with other educational establishments, health authorities, government agencies and other institutions in the UAE and the wider region. International collaboration is encouraged.
The successful candidate will also share administrative work in the IPH and the College of Medicine including serving on committees, invigilating examinations and contributing to student assessments.
Public Health (Community Medicine, Population Medicine) Specialist must hold a medical degree and should have certification in Public Health Medicine or Community (Population) Medicine by the American or Arab Board, MFPHM (RCP, UK) or equivalent from Europe, Australasia, South Africa or North America. Applicants should have experience in practicing the specialty and in teaching the components of Community Medicine including Epidemiology, Public Health and Environmental Health to medical students and graduates and provide evidence of research and publications. A higher degree (PhD, MD) is likely to be an advantage.
Occupational Medicine Specialist must hold a medical degree and should have certification in Occupational Health Medicine by the American or Arab Board, MFOM (UK) or equivalent from Europe, Australasia, South Africa or North America. Applicants should have experience in practicing the specialty and in teaching the components of Occupational Medicine to medical students and graduates and provide evidence of research and publications. A higher degree (PhD, MD) is likely to be an advantage.
