The Department of Health Sciences at the University of Central Florida
(UCF) invites applications for three full-time, nine-month lecturer positions to
start fall of 2019.
The successful candidates will be expected to focus on high quality course
delivery and student learning and engagement methods. Assignment will
include teaching, service, and participation in other appropriate internal
activities that contribute to the advancement of the department. The normal
teaching load for this position is four classes each fall semester and four
classes each spring semester.
Strategic emphasis within the Department of Health Sciences focuses on
clinical, behavioral and pathophysiological understanding of human health.
The department aspires to promote and improve the health and well-being of
local and global communities through transformative, innovative, and
inclusive education, research, clinical practice, and service. With
approximately 4,000 undergraduate students, this unit is recognized for its
superior quality of educational offerings and its contributions to health care,
scholarship, and service to our community. The department currently offers
a major and minor in Health Sciences, and it is in the process of developing
graduate degrees in nutrition, pathophysiology, and community health

The Department of Health Sciences is housed within the newly formed
College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) at UCF. The college is
a core member of the newly‐formed UCF Academic Health Sciences Center
(AHSC) along with the existing Colleges of Nursing and Medicine. CHPS
hosts four academic units: the Department of Health Sciences, the School of
Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Kinesiology and
Physical Therapy, and the School of Social Work.

Position Minimum Qualifications
An academic doctoral degree in a Health Sciences related field from an
accredited institution with emphasis on disciplines related to the
department’s strategic mission is required by the start of the appointment.
Evidence of teaching experience in subjects within the core health sciences
curriculum at UCF is also required.
Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of experience
teaching in a large and diverse academic program within a university setting;
previous experience in teaching in at least one of the following areas:
pathophysiology, pharmacology, nutrition, clinically-focused preventive
health, or other core health sciences-related courses within a university
setting; and evidence of student mentoring.
