The Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University Health Sciences Spokane, is seeking a 1.0 FTE, 9-month Assistant Professor. The position will be located on the Spokane Health Sciences campus. The start date is negotiable but no later than August 16, 2019.
Duties: Develop an externally-funded, collaborative research program in human nutrition, publish in top-tier journals, advise MS and PhD student research projects, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, and engage in department, college, and/or university service. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate and interface with the new Human Nutrition Plant Phenotyping Lab in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences on the Pullman campus to link soil science, plant genetics, and nutritional attributes in food crops with improved human health and nutrition. Expertise in the following research areas will be given highest priority and consideration: human clinical trials / dietary interventions, nutrigenomics, and personalized nutrition for health. The position is approximately 55% research, 35% teaching, and 10% service.
Requirements: Earned terminal degree (e.g., PhD) in human nutrition or closely related field by hire date.
Preferred: At least one (1) year of postdoctoral research experience.
