Unique in scope and primed for interdisciplinary scholarship, the Compassionate Care Initiative’s fully-funded one- to two-year Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is designed for a scholar committed to a research trajectory in the fields of nursing, public health, medicine or education. This position offers an opportunity for extension beyond its two-year allocation.

The University of Virginia’s (UVA) Compassionate Care Initiative (CCI) works to cultivate a resilient and compassionate healthcare workforce through innovative educational and experiential programs. Situated at the UVA School of Nursing, the CCI offers partnerships with the School of Medicine, the Darden School of Business, and the Center for Global Health, the Department of Drama and the Curry School of Education.
The CCI post-doc will develop and manage a database of ongoing work focused on compassionate care, resilience, stress and burnout. The post-doc will collaborate with researchers at UVA and beyond in developing manuscripts, literature reviews and funding potential.

This position offers:

  • Robust collaborations across UVA-Center for ASPIRE, Center for Appreciative Practice, Behavioral Research at Darden (BRAD) Lab, Mindfulness Center and the Contemplative Sciences Center;
  • Guidance in developing and conducting research, and close mentoring in manuscript preparation and publication;
  • A "calling card’ for scholarly engagement at the national and international levels through attendance at scientific meetings;
  • A generous salary with faculty benefits.

Applicants must have earned a terminal degree (PhD, DrPH, EdD, or MD) and have demonstrated a focus on health, behavioral and data sciences during their training. They must also have a strong potential for, or record of, publication. Exceptional organizational, written, verbal, interprofessional and interpersonal skills are required, as well as a deep understanding of mixed research methods. Though part of an intimate team of professionals, the post-doc research associate must also be able to work independently.

Also, provide a CV and contact information for three professional references. For more information on post-docs at UVA, visit: https://postdoc.virginia.edu/ . This position will remain open until it is filled.
