The School of Health Sciences at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan invites applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment with rank and salary commensurate with experience, to begin August 15, 2017. Candidates with a doctorate and evidence of experience in clinical chemistry or medical microbiology are especially encouraged to apply. The new faculty member will teach, coordinate clinical experiences, participate in student recruitment and retention, collaborate in continuous academic program refinement, maintain involvement in professional organizations, establish a line of peer-reviewed research and/or scholarship, and provide service to the school, university, and communities of practice.

The School of Health Sciences serves over 2400 undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and post-professional students through a singular model of advancing community-engaged translational relationships, connecting theory to best practices in four thematic areas. Interdisciplinary Health – our undergraduate program in health sciences offers concentrations in nutrition, holistic health, and pre-health professions, while the applied health sciences program offers degree completion opportunities for health specialized associate degree holders. Biomedical Professions – training in biomedical diagnostic and therapeutic sciences includes medical laboratory science, radiologic technology, and nuclear medicine. Human Performance – the doctor of physical therapy and master of exercise sciences programs offer post-professional certificates and support undergraduate health sciences program concentrations. Public and Environmental Wellness – our comprehensive programs consist of undergraduate wellness and health promotion, undergraduate and graduate environmental health and safety, and the master of public health. Our beautiful platinum LEED-certified campus facilities and broad clinical and community-based opportunities offer an ideal supportive environment for students, faculty, staff and partners to create and enjoy innovative learning, meaningful service, and vibrant research pursuits – in purpose for health.

Oakland University (www.oakland.edu) is a nationally recognized doctoral research institution located on 1,443 acres of scenic land in the cities of Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills in Oakland County, Michigan. Located near many cultural and recreational resources in suburban Detroit, Oakland is a state university enrolling approximately 20,000 students. The University has 132 bachelor’s degree programs and 138 graduate degree and certificate programs. Academics include programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education and Human Services, School of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Health Sciences, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.

Minimum requirements include, three years of clinical experience, certification in Medical Laboratory Science (ASCP) or Medical Technology (ASCP), and pursuit or attainment of a terminal academic degree (e.g. PhD, DSc). Candidates who are ABD and near completion will be considered if they can demonstrate evidence of completing degree requirements by August 15, 2017.
