The Molecular Physiology and Metabolism laboratory situated at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB), University of São Paulo offers a postdoctoral position in the area of physiology and metabolism, to start immediately. The selected candidate will receive a fellowship from São Paulo Research Funding Agency (FAPESP) a monthly payment of R$ 6820.00 (around USD 2120.00), free of taxes, for 24 months with possibility of extending for further 12 months.

This scholarship is part of a thematic project funded by São Paulo Research Funding Agency (FAPESP) aiming to characterize the involvement of the nutrient sensor mTOR in the development of obesity-associated liver inflammation, steatosis and hepatocarcinoma.

Candidates must have proven experience in the field of physiology, metabolism, nutrition, inflammation and obesity. The position will require previous experience in experimental obesity models, and in the evaluation of glucose homeostasis, tissue and systemic inflammatory parameters. Experience in macrophage and adipocyte cell culture, quantitative PCR, western blot, ELISA and mice genotyping (genetically modified mice – Cre-LOX system) are desired. This is a project carried out in collaboration with international institutions, therefore candidates with international experience are welcome to apply.

The candidate is expected to co-supervise undergraduate and graduate students and actively collaborate with researchers from other teams.
