Position Summary
The PRODiG+ fellowship program is a 2-year mentored research experience which could subsequently transition to a tenure-track faculty position, depending on the fellow’s success in fulfilling the below detailed expectations of the position. Job duties during this postdoctoral experience will include:
- Conduct innovative and high-quality research in the field of nursing, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and understanding within the discipline.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, in collaboration with a senior scientist, and present at academic conferences to disseminate knowledge and engage with the scholarly community.
- Collaborate with faculty members and other researchers within the School of Nursing, as well as interdisciplinary teams across the institution, fostering a collaborative research environment.
- Assist in the development of grant proposals to secure funding for research projects, contributing to the financial sustainability of the research program.
- Occasionally contribute to teaching activities within the School of Nursing, such as guest lectures or seminars, to share expertise with students and enhance their learning experience.
- Engage in ongoing research development activities to stay abreast of advancements in the field of nursing research and enhance research skills and expertise.
- Ensure research activities comply with ethical standards and regulatory requirements, including institutional review board (IRB) approvals and adherence to relevant policies and guidelines.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders within the School of Nursing and the broader academic and professional community.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to research projects, such as data management, project coordination, and reporting requirements.
These duties encompass the multifaceted responsibilities of a Postdoctoral Associate in a School of Nursing at an R1 public research institution, contributing to the institution’s research mission and fostering excellence in nursing scholarship.

University at Buffalo School of Nursing:
The School of Nursing is currently ranked #48 in NIH funding and faculty have secured or are partners on grants from the National Institute of Aging (NIA), the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Current research efforts are focused on, but not limited to, sleep, climate change, managing cancer symptoms, cancer screening, substance use disorders, maternal and reproductive health, managing symptoms associated with pulmonary hypertension, relaxation and meditation, simulation, use of smartphone applications to improve health, workforce resiliency, and behavioral health workforce education and training.

Minimum Qualifications
- Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship;
- Have a PhD or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date; and
- Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

Preference will be given to candidates who are:
- Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.
- From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
