Associate Professor/Professor/Department Chair, Physical Therapy
The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a tenure-track Professor who will serve as Department Chair and Program Director in Physical Therapy, with extensive experience in teaching and scholarship that complements the mission of the Department, College, and University. The position will be a calendar year appointment with a start date no later than September 2019. The Department is located within the newly formed College of Health Sciences and is part of the University’s Academic Health Collaborative which also includes the Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing, and the Institute for Integrated Health and Innovation. The Department is recognized for excellence in teaching, service, professional leadership, scholarship, and international opportunities for students, strong clinical education partners, and our on-site clinic. Annually, a cohort of 32 students are accepted and taught by a dedicated and experienced faculty. The Program received full (10 year) CAPTE re-accreditation in 2016.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead and administer the Department with oversight of: fiscal, curricular, personnel, outcome assessment and accreditation components based on a shared vision aligned to the missions of the Department, College, University, and APTA; mentor and support the professional development of faculty and students; contribute directly to the delivery of the DPT curriculum; foster links with academic and professional colleagues on campus and throughout the community; and be active in the APTA and ACAPT. In general, individuals are encouraged to apply who will contribute to the Department’s commitment to scholarship, evidence-based practice, collaborative and inclusive teaching, and who will be a strong advocate for the Department.
