Assistant or Associate Professor, Department of Physical Therapy
Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Appointment
The Department of Physical Therapy is seeking a non-tenure-track assistant professor to join the LIU DPT program. This is an appointment in a 12-month program with rank commensurate with credentials and experience. Responsibilities include teaching 24-credits. This individual will be regarded as a core faculty by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and, as such, will provide service to the department and will be required to produce scholarship (2 accomplishments disseminated in a peer reviewed format every 4 years).
- Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to: course development, instruction of didactic and laboratory courses.
- Service to the department may include, but not be limited to, the following:
- student advisement
- student recruitment
- participation in admissions interviews
- on-going curriculum review
- on-going assessment of student progress
- student remediation
- outcomes assessment
- faculty search
- administration and management of annual & comprehensive exams
Demonstrates professionalism and ethical behavior
Qualifications: Candidates must have a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited physical therapy program. Eligibility for licensure in New York State is required. A minimum of three years of clinical experience. A successful history of teaching in a physical therapy program. Clinical expertise in musculoskeletal, neuromuscular or cardiopulmonary physical therapy. American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification is preferred.
