The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) within the School of Public Health at the University of Washington (UW) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position as Assistant Professor in Occupational Health and Safety with an anticipated start date of September 2019. Faculty have an annual service period of twelve months. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. This new faculty position would provide sustained departmental research, teaching, and service expertise in the recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace exposures in Washington State and beyond.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach occupational health-related courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, mentor students from diverse backgrounds, develop an extramurally funded research portfolio, and conduct quality research independently and/or in collaboration with other Departmental or University faculty and community members. We especially encourage candidates whose research includes communities that are disproportionately impacted by occupational hazards. In addition, the candidate will actively participate in service to the university and regional community, and promote a diverse and inclusive community of faculty, staff, and students. The faculty member will also work with the Northwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety, which is a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-funded Education and Research Center (ERC), and the Department’s continuing education programs. UW DEOHS is funded in part by the Washington State Medical Aid and Accident Funds and thus occupational safety and health is central to the mission of the Department.
