The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health seeks to hire an experienced Epidemiologist at the assistant, associate or full rank in a tenure-track position. UTHealth School of Public Health includes six campuses (Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio) strategically located across Texas. This full-time, 12-month position is in the Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics and Environmental Sciences at the San Antonio campus.

Qualifications include: (1) a doctoral degree in epidemiology or closely related field; (2) current teaching and research emphasis in social epidemiology; and (3) a track-record demonstrating the ability to partner with community organizations and other institutions. In addition, applicants must have a record of external research support and peer reviewed publications commensurate with academic rank as well as current funding with a social epidemiology emphasis, including a focus on assessing and improving population health through data.

Ideal candidates should have expertise in social epidemiology that aligns with faculty at the San Antonio campus, the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano School of Medicine and other Universities as well as Health Systems in San Antonio. Areas of research interest include, Latino and youth health, health disparities, cancer and tobacco control, and population health. Primary responsibilities will include developing collaborations within the community and across institutions, campuses and departments (e.g. with Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences), acquiring and conducting externally funded research and leading graduate-level courses.

In addition to the School of Public Health, UTHealth is home to schools of biomedical informatics, biomedical sciences, dentistry, medicine and nursing.
