The USF College of Public Health was founded in 1986 and consists of five departments and numerous federally funded research centers. The Department of Health Policy & Management (HPM) is a growing department with strong commitment to teaching and interdisciplinary research. HPM offers a Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) accredited Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program, PhD in Health Services Research, and three MPH concentrations. HPM has growing collaborations within USF Health and the Tampa community, collaborations that provide opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching and research.
Assistant/Associate Professor in Health Policy & Management, 12-month tenure-earning appointment.
Develop and teach courses that focus on health services research, data mining, or machine learning methods using large data sets ("big data") to address public health, health policy, community health, healthcare organization issues. Work with USF Health IT and other Colleges within USF health to develop courses and applied seminars that cross College and discipline lines in the area of analytics and methods. Advise graduate students and serve on masters- and doctoral-level student program and dissertation committees. Obtain and maintain extramural funding for research activities that covers at least 25% of annual salary after year three of appointment either as lead or collaborative member of research team. Collaborate with other faculty members in establishing and maintaining research programs, particularly in the areas of analytics and methods using large data sets to address important health care policy, public health, and health system issues. Contribute to the scholarly literature through publication in peer-reviewed journals of at least national dissemination and presenting at national and international conferences. Engage in service activities at the university, professional and community levels, including serving on faculty governance committees, special work groups, and other university service roles. Participate at the national and state level in professional organizations and activities. Contribute to community well-being through service related to professional and other expertise.
Doctoral degree or equivalent in Public Health, Health Services, Health Administration, Health Economics, Healthcare Data Analytics, Health Informatics, or related field. Demonstrated ability to fulfill the expectation of continued growth as a scholar/researcher, including a publication record that includes primary or senior authored peer reviewed publications in journals of national or international recognition. Ongoing research and state-of-the-art technical expertise that utilize large data sets (e.g. claims data) using health services research analytic methods, data mining, or machine learning to inform important health policy and delivery issues with a record of accomplishment in scholarly research. Demonstrated ability to fulfill the expectation of continued growth as a teacher and excellence in teaching master's or doctoral level courses related to health services research, healthcare data analytics, health policy, health policy analysis, or health systems. Demonstrated ability to fulfill the expectation of contributions in the area of service to the University, profession and/or public commensurate with the College's mission. Demonstrated ability to fulfill the expectation of collegiality and participation as a citizen of the University.
Doctoral degree or equivalent in Public Health, Health Services, Health Administration, Health Economics, Healthcare Data Analytics, Health Informatics, or related field. Two years of continuous and productive accomplishment as an Assistant Professor or the equivalent. A record of excellence in independent and/or collaborative research and/or creative scholarly work, supported by a substantial and sustained publications in journals of national or international recognition. Ongoing research and state-of-the-art technical expertise that utilize large data sets (e.g. claims data) using health services research analytic methods, data mining, or machine learning to inform important health policy and delivery issues with a record of accomplishment in scholarly research. A record of excellence in teaching, including a clearly defined teaching philosophy, participation on thesis and/or dissertation committees, and successful work of master's and doctoral candidates, where applicable. Demonstrated excellence in teaching master's or doctoral level courses related to health services research, healthcare data analytics, health policy, health policy analysis, or health systems. A record of substantive contribution of service to their University, profession, and community. A record of collegiality and participation as a citizen of their University.
Demonstrated record of obtaining external research grant funding and participating on or leading grant-funded research teams, particularly federally funded research. Expertise in HIPPA-compliant data management systems. Evidence of trans-disciplinary or cross departmental/college team work. Evidence of translating research to practice.
