Post-doctoral Research Associate – Nutrition Clinical Trials

General Summary of Position:

The Nutritional Sciences Program has been established at the University of Massachusetts Lowell to conduct research in areas that include: 1) population health disparities; 2) nutritional impact on aging; 3) interconnections between diet, the microbiome and health; 4) infant growth and nutrition status. The principal role of the Post-Doctoral Research Associate is to work on the infant growth project alongside the PI and co-Is. Additional opportunities for research in related areas are also encouraged. A critical feature of the role of the position will also be to a) develop and write research proposals to advance the post-doc’s career and form collaborations to support future research b) perform major research functions on existing grant(s).

The projects involved in this position include, but are not limited to: 1) recruitment of participants for an infant feeding and nutritional status project; 2) data collection on nutritional status among infants; 3) data management and analysis and manuscript preparation pertaining to the infant feeding trial; 4) working closely with the project manager and Co-Is on training materials, research manuals, IRB paperwork and related participant materials.

This position is contingent upon funding.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-PhD in nutritional sciences, and related fields AND track record of publications in pediatric nutrition
-A strong background and research experiences in clinical trials related to diet and/or nutrition supplementation
-A research background in analyzing and interpreting pediatric data
-Ability to work as a team player
-Strong technical report writing and communication skills
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
-Quantitative research methods and statistics

Other Considerations:
-Registered Dietitian Preferred
-The group is dynamic, high-pressure environment and the position of Post Doctoral Research Associate will involve working under pressure to strict deadlines
