Iowa Wesleyan University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor in the Division of Nursing to begin in August 2018. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track teaching position. As an Assistant Professor the responsibility is teaching nursing students in the classroom, the clinical environment, and online. A full time nursing faculty must possess the knowledge skills and attitudes of management and leadership, organizational strengths, strong interpersonal and communication skills, current clinical and professional skills. A typical workload for a faculty member is 27 semester hours per academic year. The current expectation is that the faculty member will also have weekly office hours totaling 5-7 each week. Some teaching in the evenings, weekends and summer months may be part of the contractual agreement between administration and the faculty member.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Fulfills the duties and responsibilities of a faculty member, participating on campus committees as requested and attending regular general faculty meetings as well as actively participating in the Division of Nursing meetings.

  • Advises nursing majors academically.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa or eligible for licensure within the State of Iowa.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience plus three years’ experience as a faculty member within a comparable institution.
  • Minimally, has a master’s degree with a major in nursing education or a terminal degree in nursing. If only a Master’s degree in nursing a commitment to complete a terminal degree in nursing or a related subject will be requested.
