The Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), UAE University, is recruiting a Medical Microbiologist with an established track record of research accomplishments in the area of parasitology/mycology. It is likely that the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, however more senior applicants may apply with the possibility of being appointed at Associate level. The College of Medicine is housed in a purpose built state-of-the-art facility with the mission to "train medical graduates and postgraduates of internationally recognized quality." English is the language of instruction. Current research in the department focuses on antibiotic resistance, host-pathogen interactions, cancer immunology, autoimmune diseases, retroviral RNA packaging, dimerization, and regulation of retroviral gene expression, and oncogenic viruses, in particular EBV and its role in the pathogenesis of human diseases.
The successful candidate must have an MD/PhD or PhD with a strong track record of research in clinical or medical parasitology/mycology and published their research findings in reputable journals. It is expected that the successful candidate will also have experience in teaching medical students, and preferably also postgraduate students. Relevant clinical experience and board certification would be an advantage. Importantly, candidates must demonstrate the potential to establish an independent research program in their area of expertise and be able to obtain peer-reviewed external funding. International collaboration is encouraged.
