professor positions to start fall of 2019.

Applicants with research and teaching expertise in the subject areas of UCF’s
Department of Health Sciences are encouraged to apply. These areas include, but
are not limited to, clinical and community applications of human disease,
pathophysiology, pharmacology, epidemiology, nutrition, behavioral health
sciences, and preventive medicine. In addition to participation in undergraduate
education, student advising, and mentoring, the selected candidate will be
expected to develop and maintain a strong and well-funded research program.
Assignments will include teaching, research, and service, including internal and
external activities that contribute to the advancement of the department, the
college, the university, and the discipline.

Strategic emphasis within the Department of Health Sciences focuses on clinical,
behavioral, and pathophysiological understanding of human and public health. The
department aspires to promote and improve the health and well-being of local and
global communities through transformative, innovative, and inclusive education,
research, and service. With approximately 4,000 undergraduate students, the
Department of Health Sciences is recognized for its superior quality of educational
offerings and its contributions to health care, scholarship, and service to our
community. The department currently offers a major and a minor in Health
Sciences, and it is in the process of developing graduate degrees in nutrition,
pathophysiology, and community health promotion. For more information about the
department, visit: https://healthprofessions.ucf.edu/healthsciences/.

The Department of Health Sciences is housed within the newly formed College of
Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) at UCF. The college is a core member of
the newly formed UCF Academic Health Sciences Center (AHSC) along with the
existing Colleges of Nursing and Medicine. CHPS hosts four academic units: the
Department of Health Sciences, the School of Communication Sciences and
Disorders, the School of Kinesiology & Physical Therapy, and the School of Social
Work.

The University of Central Florida is an emerging preeminent research university in
Florida and one of the largest universities in the U.S. with a diverse student body of
approximately 67,500 students and has grown substantially in size, quality,
diversity, and reputation in its first 50 years. UCF and its 13 colleges offer 216
degrees from UCF’s main campus, hospitality campus, health sciences campus,
online, and through our 10 regional locations. UCF has been identified as one of
the top five “Schools to Watch” by U.S. News & World Report. The university and
college stress the importance of community engagement and partnerships, and
offer the unique opportunity for collaborative research and work with dedicated
community professionals in a wide range of policy and management areas, both
inside and outside academia.

Position Minimum Qualifications
An academic doctoral degree in a Health Sciences-related field from an accredited
institution with emphasis on disciplines related to the department’s strategic
mission is required by the start of the appointment. Evidence of teaching
experience in subjects within the core health sciences curriculum at UCF, a track
record of research, peer-reviewed publications, and scholarly activities are also
required.

Preferences
Preference will be given to candidates who have either demonstrated or shown a
clear potential for developing a strong research program that would lead to
extramurally funded research within the department’s strategic emphasis. Previous
experience in teaching pathophysiology, pharmacology, epidemiology, health
behavior, nutrition, clinical applications of preventive health, community or public
health, and/or other core health sciences-related courses within a university setting,
