Position Purpose The University of Central Missouri (UCM) invites applications for Chair of the School of Nursing. The school offers a BSN with an RN to BSN option and an online MS program with Nurse Educator and Family Nurse Practitioner emphasis areas. Personnel in the school consists of 16 full-time faculty and four staff positions with a total budget of
$1.8 million. The Chair will have duties both at the main UCM campus in Warrensburg, MO and at the Missouri Innovation Center in Lee’s Summit, MO.
The Chair is expected to provide visionary leadership in teaching, research, student success, recruitment, and curriculum development. The successful candidate will advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school.
While a more detailed position description may be obtained from the Dean, the chair, in a 12- month full-time administrative appointment, will have the following general responsibilities:
1. Managing budget, personnel, curriculum, assessment, and development in the school.
2. Facilitating and promoting a strong collegial and intellectual climate within the school and community.
3. Promoting diverse values, voices, and identities among faculty, staff, and students.
4. Performing management functions necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the school.
5. Contributing to the attainment of both college and university goals.
6. Contributing to the instruction of undergraduate/graduate students.
7. Facilitating faculty recruitment and promotion and tenure and faculty and staff professional development.
8. Ensuring that degree programs satisfy requirements of accrediting agencies and the state board of nursing.

Possess a graduate degree in Nursing. Must have an earned doctorate in Nursing, Higher Education Leadership, or related field.
Licensed or license-eligible as Missouri RN.
Experience The successful candidate should hold a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service that merits appointment as a full professor.
Must demonstrate knowledge of academic environment.
Must have a record of successful experience in managing nursing and/or nursing faculty.
Must demonstrate knowledge of nursing education.
Experience with responsibility center budgeting, leadership, scheduling, alumni relations, fundraising, and grant writing is desirable.
