The Kentucky Regional Extension Center (Kentucky REC) is currently seeking a Health Information Technology (HIT) Advisor II to assist Kentucky REC clients with privacy and security as well as meeting federal Meaningful Use guidelines with their EHR.
This employee will engage with KY- REC clients including hospitals, clinics, and private practice physician offices, for the purposes of conducting a thorough and complete analysis of the threats and vulnerabilities of the organization ‘s electronic protected health information (e-PHI) to establish overall risks. Employee must document all discussion and findings during the analysis in the appropriate tools used by the KY- REC including the interview, facility walk through, policy and procedure review, and final deliverable. All identified risks documented in the final deliverable will be reviewed with the client by the employee. The employee should be familiar with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy, Security, and Breach rules as updated by the HIPAA Omnibus 2013, NIST SP 800-30 standards, CMS Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program and MACRA.
Requires moderate to advanced interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain external customer relationships. Acknowledges and clarifies customer inquiries, requests, or complaints to ensure that the needs are identified, documented, and addressed. Employee is responsible for ensuring that service line continues to meet all necessary HIPAA rules and regulations.
Employee will keep up to date on Federal and State guidelines for HIT and non-HIT projects including but not limited to HIPAA privacy and Security, Meaningful Use, and other quality initiatives as designated.
This position may work with other members of the Kentucky REC to work on Health Information Technology (HIT) projects and non-HIT projects such as Meaningful Use, HIPAA Privacy and Security, Patient Centered Medical Home, and other quality initiatives as defined.
