The Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time lecturer position beginning Fall 2019. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in fieldwork seminar, social work practice, human behavior in the social environment, and social policy; advise students; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community (i.e., committee, administrative, supervisory, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time lecturer appointment). Evening teaching will be required.

The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 27 hours (9 courses). Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship and professional development support.

The Social Work Programs (undergraduate and graduate) at Lehman College are nationally recognized for their commitment to urban social work and serving underserved urban populations and communities. The programs are among the most diverse social work education programs in the nation. The faculty and staff are highly supportive of our students while we hold them to high professional standards. The programs are strongly connected with urban communities, especially the Bronx.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Must have a commitment to urban social and economic justice and underserved populations and communities along with a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work from an accredited college/university
- LMSW in New York State
- Experienced social work practitioner (minimum of 3 years post-masters) in an urban environment and committed to diversity
- Currently in Ph.D/DSW program in social work or ABD
- Bilingual
- Record of publications

COMPENSATION
Commensurate with education and experience.
