Located on an academic health center campus in a city that combines cultural opportunities with affordable living, Indiana University School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences invites applications and nominations for an academic leader to serve as chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. The Department is located in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and enjoys a national reputation for excellence in educating future practitioners and contributing to the research foundation of the profession. The department will enroll its first class of entry level doctoral students in May of 2018, and has an already established OTD post professional program. With 36 students admitted annually, faculty can become familiar with each student as an individual and can contribute to individual career goals. All students must engage in a research project which typically results in several regional and national presentations or publications.

Reporting to the dean, the department chair is responsible for the vision, leadership, and administration of the educational, research, and service programs, including promoting interprofessional education and practice, program evaluation, recruiting and developing faculty and staff, fiscal planning, strategic planning, and goal setting for the department in conjunction with the school and university strategic plans.

The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor, hold an earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution, and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a fulltime academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post baccalaureate level. This person is expected to have publications in peer-reviewed journals, and evidence of external funding and administrative experience, be familiar with OT accreditation requirements, and be eligible or hold licensure in occupational therapy.

Preference will be given to candidates with an earned PhD, supervisory experience, strong collaborative interpersonal skills, a demonstrated commitment to diversity, and prior experience developing, managing and evaluating entry-level and post professional doctor of occupational therapy programs. Academic rank, tenure, and salary are dependent upon applicant qualifications.

Screening of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Preferred starting date is July 1, 2018. Candidates should send a curriculum vita and letter of interest to:
