Position Summary:

The University of Idaho Counseling and Testing Center (CTC) is seeking a social worker or psychologist to join our staff of mental health providers and provide leadership in case management services for students. The position requires a strong foundation as a generalist, expertise working with high acuity clients as well as experience coordinating mental health services in the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the suicide prevention program, developing and maintaining a strong referral network in the Moscow-Pullman communities, facilitating referrals to community providers, coordinating with hospitals following discharge of students and consulting with CTC clinicians regarding high acuity cases. The Case Manager will conduct initial evaluations and carry a client caseload. In addition, the Case Manger may have opportunities to provide clinical supervision, lead training activities associated with their job responsibilities and develop a social work field placement and/or internship. The Case Manager will also lead one therapy group per semester and will serve as liaison with one campus department in support of the CTC's outreach programming.

The job responsibilities associated with the Case Manager position include:

  • Provide crisis intervention and triage to high acuity clients who are requesting urgent mental health services at the Counseling and Testing Center.
  • Assist in continuity of care for students evaluated and/or admitted to emergency facilities and/or regional psychiatric hospitals.
  • Facilitates referrals to community providers and provides guidance to students on issues such as insurance, transportation, selecting a therapist, and knowing what to expect from initial meetings.
  • Coordinates with community providers and agencies to expand and maintain accurate referral networks.
  • Assist in tracking students referred to the community and consults with providers as needed in order to facilitate continuity of care.
  • Manage administrative tasks associated with the University of Idaho's Suicide Prevention Policy, including record-keeping associated with students who have been mandated to meet with a clinician for assessments, coordination with the Dean of Students office regarding student's compliance with the policy and follow-up with students who have not completed the program's requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in social work or related field. Eligibility for licensure as a clinical social worker, psychologist or related field in the State of Idaho.
Demonstrated ability and experience in counseling adults
Ability to relate collegially and collaboratively with others
Demonstrated skills and experience in providing culturally competent clinical services to a diverse client population
Previous clinical experience working with clients who have acute and/or persistent mental health issues
