The Department of Nursing at Lehman College invites applications for a full-time lecturer position beginning Fall 2019. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate level courses in pediatrics/parent child nursing; advise students; provide service to the department, college, university, and community (i.e. committee, administrative, supervisory, and other assignments normally associated with a full-time lecturer appointment). Evening teaching may be required.
The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The teaching load is 27 hours (9 courses). Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship and professional development support.
The Department of Nursing at Lehman College is part of the School of Health Sciences, Human Services, and Nursing. The Department of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate nursing programs to a culturally diverse student body. Our undergraduate nursing program has both a generic program and a registered nurse completion track. Our graduate program currently offers nurse practitioner program. The Department of Nursing’s Strategic Plan incorporates the recommendations of the 2010 Institute of Medicine Future of Nursing Initiatives. We are planning for a Doctorate of Nursing practice.
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing, and the ability to teach successfully in pediatrics or parent child nursing required.
