Full-Time MPH Faculty Position – Health Management and Policy Track
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor

Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) is seeking a faculty member (open rank) for a full-time (12-month) position in our accredited MPH Program. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or other relevant terminal degree in a directly related field (e.g., healthcare management, health services research, finance, operations management). Candidates with a strong commitment to teaching and research are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities for this faculty position include teaching graduate courses, conducting and disseminating original research related to healthcare management and administration, advising and mentoring graduate students, serving on Program and University committees, participating in Program assessment activities, and ensuring that the Program continues to meet all external accreditation requirements.

Established in 1997 in collaboration with Old Dominion University (ODU), the MPH Program enrolls an average of 50 new students per year, with specialty tracks in Health Management, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, and Health Promotion. An MD/MPH dual degree program is also offered. Students typically complete the MPH degree in two years by taking courses for five consecutive terms. Residential classes are held during evening hours, and some courses are delivered in online or hybrid format.

The Hampton Roads region offers many opportunities for research collaboration with investigators in both healthcare and community-based settings. Notable campus centers include the Strelitz Diabetes Institute, the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, the Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, the M. Foscue Brock Institute for Community and Global Health, and the ODU Center for Global Health. The Graduate Program in Public Health enjoys close relationships with the School of Health Professions, the School of Medicine, health care providers, and public health communities. EVMS shares the Eastern Virginia Medical Center campus with Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (one of 11 acute care hospitals in a top integrated healthcare system) and Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (part of a multi-specialty health system offering comprehensive pediatric care).

The position offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience and level of appointment. Applications will be reviewed as received, and the position will remain open until filled. The desired start date is July 1, 2018.

Quality of Life: Located in the city of Norfolk, EVMS and ODU serve the southeastern region of Virginia known as Hampton Roads, as well as northeastern North Carolina.
