JOB SUMMARY
Gonzaga University’s Department of Nursing seeks to fill a 12- month, full-time administrative position beginning in spring 2018. We are particularly interested in applicants who can provide strong, supportive leadership to a department with a campus-based BSN program and large online MSN and DNP programs with nurse practitioner and nursing administrative/leadership tracks. The ideal candidate will be an experienced nurse educator and administrator with high academic standards, the ability to build collaborative relationships, and a solid record of teaching, program development, and assessment preferably in BSN, MSN, and DNP programs. This individual will also have recent administrative experience in leading a nursing education program in the role of Assistant or Associate Dean, Director, or Department Chair.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides the day-to-day operational leadership to the Department of Nursing in accordance with the mission and values of the department, the School of Nursing and Human Physiology, and the university
  • Oversees the departmental operational budget and makes recommendations for new funding requests
  • Collaborates with faculty in ensuring the integrity of the BSN, MSN, and DNP curricula
  • Recruits, interviews, and makes recommendations regarding hiring faculty and staff
  • Directs the responsibilities of four program directors who lead degree/specialty programs
  • Ensures compliance with CCNE accreditation standards and Washington state regulations for nursing education programs.
  • Creates an environment that is conducive to effective teaching and learning, promotes diversity, and encourages scholarship/research, professional development, and service
  • Reviews and signs clinical agency affiliation agreements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in Nursing or related field; if PhD is not in nursing, then a master’s degree in nursing is required
  • Recent experience as a Department Chair, Director, or an Assistant or Associate Dean
  • 3-5 years of experience teaching in an accredited BSN or higher degree nursing education program
  • Experience in curriculum development, including simulation
  • Eligible for an unencumbered Washington registered nurse license

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching in BSN through doctoral programs
  • Experience with online teaching and required technology
  • Experience with the accreditation process for nursing education programs
  • Simulation experience
