The College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan invites applications for Assistant Dean – Prince Albert and North (term of five years). The successful candidate will be eligible for consideration for a permanent tenure-track position within the College, preferably at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. She/he will initiate, lead and participate in research activities; compete successfully for external funding to support this research program; and undertake relevant administrative activities, including meetings and committee work. Additionally, teaching assignments will be negotiated based on current teaching interests, and teaching needs.

Reporting to the Dean, College of Nursing, the Assistant Dean is a member of the Leadership Team of the College of Nursing and provides leadership in developing, maintaining and expanding relationships with nursing groups, other health professions, service delivery, post-secondary organizations, and diverse communities across northern Saskatchewan, nationally and internationally. The Assistant Dean leads operations at the Prince Albert Campus under the supervision of the Dean and in consultation with the Associate Deans and Graduate Program Chair. The Assistant Dean ensures inclusion of the Prince Albert and Northern perspectives within the strategic decision-making of the College of Nursing. The Assistant Dean collaborates with diverse communities and stakeholders requiring an awareness of and sensitivity to issues regarding diversity and inclusion. As part of the ‘learn where you live’ model, the Prince Albert campus is one of three College of Nursing campuses offering onsite and distributed learning.

The University of Saskatchewan (UofS) is situated in Treaty 6 territory and the M├ętis homeland. The Assistant Dean position is based out of the Prince Albert Campus which is 140km north of the main campus in Saskatoon. The University has a reputation for excellence in teaching, research and scholarly activities and offers a full range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs to a student population of over 23,000. The UofS offers the widest range of health sciences programs of any university its size in Canada, including medicine and veterinary medicine. The College of Nursing offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs and is a national leader in distributed nursing education and Indigenous student success.

A relevant PhD in Nursing or related discipline and an established program of research and competent teaching record are required. Candidates should have at least one degree in Nursing, and be eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association.
Previous leadership experience would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will have experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders in a university setting. She/he will possess knowledge and understanding of issues (including cultural, socio-economic and other factors) affecting Indigenous peoples, and an awareness that Indigenous engagement is a strategic priority at the University of Saskatchewan.

Salary bands for this position are as follows: Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925; and Professor $130,925 to $152,877.
