Pace University’s College of Health Professions, Department of Health Studies is seeking a Full Time Tenure Track Faculty Member to serve as Founding Director for the proposed Occupational Therapy program.

About us:
The College of Health Professions was established in 2010 in an effort to showcase and expand health professions majors at Pace University. The College is made up of the Lienhard School of Nursing, the Pace University-Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant Studies Department, and the Department of Health Studies (which includes the communication sciences and disorders program along with the Bachelor of Science in Health Science. Additional programs in health studies, including OT, are currently in development). Our vision is to be recognized for our innovative leadership in education, practice, scholarship, and service to improve health and the health professions. Our mission is to educate and challenge diverse students for the health professions to be leaders, innovators and lifelong learners who will positively impact local, national, and global health.

The founding director will be responsible for the management and administration of the OT program, including planning, evaluation, budgeting, selection of faculty and staff, achievement and maintenance of ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) accreditation, including the responsibility for assuring that all ACOTE accreditation standards, policies, and procedures are met.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

-Development of policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and to ensure fair, equitable, and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students (such as program admission, retention and completion policies)
-Student recruitment, advisement, evaluation, and counseling
-Maintenance of program accreditation, including timely submission of fees, reports, and requests for major program changes
-Maintenance of the program’s student records, including student advising plans and verification statements
-Maintenance of complaints about the program received from students or others, including disposition of the complaint
-On-going review of the program’s curriculum to meet the accreditation standards
-Communication and coordination with program faculty, preceptors (if present) and others involved with the program
-Hiring of program faculty
-Facilitation of processes for continuous assessment of program and student learning outcomes
-Counseling prospective applicants on admission requirements and handling many sensitive issues regarding admissions processing which requires a high level of professionalism and confidentiality


1. Associate Professor rank preferred
2. The program director must be an initially certified occupational therapist who is licensed or otherwise regulated according to regulations of New York State. The program director must hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE). The doctoral degree is not limited to a doctorate in occupational therapy.
3. The program director must have a minimum of 8 years documented experience in the field of occupational therapy. This experience must include:
-Clinical practice as an occupational therapist
-Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting
-Evidence of scholarship outcomes; and
-At least 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-baccalaureate level

Excellent leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal skills. Self-directed and can exercise independent judgment.
