Associate Professor/Professor of Public Health, Tenure-track

Job Summary:

The University of San Francisco (USF) is searching for a tenure-track Associate Professor or Professor to join the School of Nursing and Health Professions. The faculty position carries with it an expectation for excellence in teaching, scholarly productivity, and academic and professional service. As a senior faculty member, administrative duties may be required with time release for administrative responsibilities as required to meet the needs of the Master in Public Health (MPH) program. The MPH program is a two year, six semester program that is delivered throughout the year - Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
The mission of the MPH program at USF is to develop a cadre of public health leaders and generalists who will advance public health, social justice, and well-being in the city of San Francisco, the state of California, the United States, and the world, and to create an educational public health presence that promotes community engagement, professional collaborations, evidence-based practice, and public health advocacy. In addition to the generalist track, USF offers a Health Policy Leadership Concentration at the Sacramento Campus, in the capitol city of California. Launch of an MPH program in our Orange County Campus is being considered in the near future.

Job Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in teaching, fieldwork placement and supervision year round, develop an independent and ongoing program of scholarship, and perform service that will contribute to the university and profession. As a senior faculty, administrative responsibilities may also be assigned which could include Master in Public Health Program Director. Program Directors in the SONHP are tenure-earning faculty positions and serve as core faculty members in the programs in which they are assigned.
Appointment will be made at the Associate or Professor level, depending on years of teaching experience, with possible credit given towards tenure.

Minimum Requirements:

A Doctorate in Public Health or related field, such as, Social Work, Nursing, Epidemiology, Health Education, and Environmental Health is required at time of appointment. An MPH Degree or MS in Public Health is an additional plus for this position. Successful candidates will be expected to engage in classroom and fieldwork placement and supervision, to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, to continue a program of scholarship and demonstrate current evidence of scholarship, experience and willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University. As a senior faculty member, demonstrated success in scholarship, teaching and service is expected and previous administrative experience would be viewed favorably. The appointment will be made at the Associate or Full Professor level, depending on years of teaching experience, with possible credit given toward tenure. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to work in a culturally diverse environment and to contribute to the Mission of the University of San Francisco.
