The Department of Global Health (DGH) at the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) is recruiting for a faculty position with expertise in health system economics, health economics modeling, and/or health economic impact evaluation in low or middle-income countries. We are seeking a versatile analyst with field experience, strong quantitative skills, and prior work in global public health. Areas of focus may include the design and evaluation of health system interventions, cost-effectiveness analysis and resource allocation, mathematical modeling to improve resource utilization, or the application of behavioral economic methods.

The successful candidate will join DGH’s dynamic research programs in the economics and epidemiology of HIV, infectious diseases, maternal and child health, health systems, and access to medicines in low- and middle- income countries, and will have access to BU’s world class computing facilities and faculty expertise. DGH is comprised of 30 full and part-time faculty who are internationally recognized for their innovation in research, scholarship, and teaching. The Department collaborates with international colleagues in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Central Europe.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead an independent research agenda in line with departmental priorities, actively engage in collaborative research, participate in teaching and mentoring master’s and doctoral students, and provide service to the department, university, and profession. Applications are welcome at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level. Successful candidates will have strong potential (Assistant) or demonstrated track record (Associate/Full) of conducting global health field research, publishing in top journals, and securing external research funding.
Requirements at the Assistant, Associate, and full Professor levels:
Doctoral degree in relevant quantitative field (health economics, health systems, public health, public policy)
Experience with quantitative methods for impact evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis
Experience with primary data collection or other global health fieldwork
Ongoing relationships with investigators and/or research organizations in project countries
Demonstrated leadership potential, resourcefulness, and intellectual creativity
Additional requirements at the Assistant Professor level:
At least two peer-reviewed publications with major contribution (e.g. first, second, or senior authorship)
Demonstrated potential to secure grant funding (e.g. receipt of institutional grants or fellowships)
Additional requirements at the Associate and full Professor levels:
Multiple peer-reviewed publications on health economics in low- and middle-income countries
Demonstrated track record of securing substantial external grant funding for research
Current appointment at the assistant professor level or higher
