The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine is seeking a tenure-track/tenured faculty member with expertise in bioinformatics to be appointed at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates must be highly motivated and accomplished, with a doctorate degree in bioinformatics or a related field and strong expertise in oral health research and/or cancer biology, as well as strong statistical, machine-learning, data science, and computational biology background. The ideal candidate would demonstrate a record of impactful publications and a history of, or strong potential for, peer-reviewed research funding. The candidate will be expected to build a program of independent and collaborative research that contributes to the institution’s mission. The research program may be purely computational or may include a small wet-laboratory component, subject to availability of space and resources.

Innovative investigators with strong experience including, but not limited to, the following areas are welcome to apply:
  • Single-cell and bulk transcriptomics analysis
  • Image analysis
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Computational immunology or immuno-oncology
  • Data mining of electronic health records
  • “Multi-omic” studies (including metabolomics)
  • Microbiomics

The position offers the opportunity for scientific and professional growth with an exciting group of scientists that build on core strengths areas of oral health research including oral microbiology/immunology, mineralized tissues, salivary gland biology, and oral cancer/cancer complications. A portion of the Faculty’s time is expected to be devoted to develop collaborations and provide analytical services to other investigators at the School of Dental Medicine.
