The Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP) Department of Clinical and Preventive Nutrition Sciences is inviting applications for 2 full-time faculty positions. SHP is one of eight schools that are part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, the premier health sciences institution in New Jersey. Rutgers is an internationally ranked University and a member of the prestigious AAU and the Big Ten conference.
The Department of Clinical and Preventive Nutrition Sciences has a Coordinated Program in Dietetics, Dietetic Internship, the U.S.‘s first entry level Future Education Model M.S. in Clinical Nutrition and two degree programs exclusively for R.D.s; a M.S. in Clinical Nutrition and a Doctorate of Clinical Nutrition. All of the programs are well recognized for their innovation in nutrition/dietetics education and scholarship. The Department has a growing research portfolio including NIH and other extramurally funded research in chronic kidney disease, oral health/disease, chemosenses, perinatal health, and cardiometabolic diseases along with a rich history of research and training in advanced level dietetics practice and nutrition focused physical examination. Our faculty mentor graduate students in conducting research studies both nationally and internationally, and are involved in global scholarship and education initiatives. Through these faculty appointments, the department anticipates increasing its capacity for excellence in research and teaching.
We seek to hire two new faculty. One position is at the instructor or assistant-professor level for a faculty member with a doctoral degree in nutrition, clinical experience and the RDN credential. The successful candidate will have experience in mentoring students in clinical settings, preferably within entry-level dietetics/ nutrition programs. Responsibilities include clinical coordination of students during their clerkships, preparing students for the clinical experience, monitoring student progress with preceptors and overall management and coordination of the clerkships. The second position is at the assistant professor or higher level for a faculty member with a doctoral degree in nutrition or a related area and the RDN credential. The successful candidate will have a growing record of scholarship and research in clinical nutrition, experience directing graduate student research and teaching at the graduate level.
