The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne is the pre-eminent faculty of medical and health sciences in Australia, and a world leader in its class. The University, with its healthcare partners, aims to become a prominent global institution in the use of clinical and health informatics to advance the health of individuals and the functioning of healthcare systems. The University is now establishing a major new Centre that coordinates the existing strengths in bioinformatics, clinical informatics, population health and epidemiology, and related disciplines which will engage with State and Federal Governments and local hospitals to create an ecosystem that will best utilise patient and consumer data for research, prevention and optimised care.
We currently seek an inaugural Director of the University Centre for Clinical and Population Health Informatics. The Director will be required to work at an executive level to maintain critical partnerships with healthcare, medical research institutes and educational partners and will lead collaborations with the State and Federal Governments to have a transformative impact on the healthcare delivery. We are seeking an expert in the field of clinical and/or health informatics with a demonstrated academic track record as well as the necessary skills to work at the juncture of academia, medical research and patient care across the healthcare system. S/he will need to be comfortable and excited by the responsibility and prospect of shaping a leading new Centre in the context of a world-class University and commit to the time it will take to develop.
