    Job Description


    Old Dominion University (ODU) invites nominations and applications for a full time, ten-month tenure track position in the Exercise Science Program (https://ww1.odu.edu/eps/departments/hms/academics/exercise), which is anticipated to move from the Department of Human Movement Sciences in the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies to a newly formed school unit in the College of Health Sciences (https://ww1.odu.edu/hs.html). The appointment is effective July 25, 2024. The B.S. and M.S. Exercise Science programs employ 10 full-time core faculty and graduate approximately 120 students per year. Exercise Science faculty also contribute to advising, instruction, and research in the College of Health Sciences’ PhD program in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation. We are committed to maintaining a diverse and stable faculty.

    The responsibilities of this position include a commitment to scholarly research and teaching excellence within the Exercise Science Program. Additional responsibilities include service to the school, college, university, and profession. The individual will also contribute to mentoring master’s students in the MS Exercise Science and doctoral students in the Kinesiology and Rehabilitation PhD program.

    Minimum Qualifications - Education or training


    Candidates must have earned a PhD in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or similar content area by July 25th, 2024.

     


    Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification


    Preferred Qualifications



    • Expertise in clinical exercise physiology, strength and conditioning or related fields

    • Record of funded research

    • Mentorship of graduate student research

    • Professional certifications including ACSM CEPACSM EP, or NSCA CSCS
