    Job Summary
    Under administrative direction of the Dean to develop curriculum and provide lecture and laboratory instruction for students in the study of Nursing Informatics and large data sets and other related courses; to evaluate students’ performance; to coordinate with faculty and other staff regarding nursing informatics, computer software for use in conjunction with lecture and laboratory assignments; to participate JSU, shared governance, and other activities in support of the instructional program, and to perform related work, as required.

     

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    The Professor Informatics in Nursing will be responsible for providing leadership in the Nursing and Health Professional research program for the school of Nursing.


    Must be able to effectively interact with diverse groups of faculty scientists, community partners and leaders. Computer skills with Micro Office, EHR and course learning or management software including CANVASS, Banner and other statistical packages.


     

    Essential Job Functions
    Provide an overview of basic epidemiological methods and study designs used by advanced practice nurses to study the health of populations. Train Clinicians in traditional and social epidemiology to examine how society and social organizations influence the health and well-being of individuals and populations, with particular attention to rural people. Address frequency, distribution, surveillance methods, and new applications of epidemiological methods. each material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction. Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes. Provide regular and timely feedback to students. Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors. Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process. Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
     


    • MSN Nursing with Administration, PhD Epidemiology


    Licensing and Certifications

    • Certification in Informatics recommended but not required.

    • Mississippi RN if the candidate is a nurse.
