Academic Stroke Neurologist and Medical Director
The Comprehensive Stroke Program, Department of Neurology at Wake Forest University Health Sciences, is seeking candidates for a Medical Director position. Academic rank and appointment will commensurate with skill level, training, clinical and academic experience.
The program includes dedicated inpatient beds as well as outstanding outpatient clinics. We are certified by JCAHO as a primary Stroke Center and have a long history of excellence in this arena. Candidates will be expected to actively participate in this multidisciplinary program focusing on acute management of stroke, community outreach and education, conduct clinical research, and teach residents and medical students.
Candidates should be board certified in Neurology with fellowship training in cerebrovascular disease and certification in vascular neurology and be able to demonstrate appropriate experience and training, including a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a collaborative team member. The Medical Director will participate in preparation and implementation of accreditation surveys; manage day to day activities and operational issues that require medical leadership; will meet regularly with physicians regarding medical staff issues as well as representatives of other Medical Center departments to participate in strategic and/or operational planning and to address medical staff issues.

Major services include a Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Level 1 accredited Trauma Center, a Heart Center, a Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, a Stroke Center, Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation Centers, a Burn Unit, and specialty care for patients with brain tumors, neurological disorders and movement disorders.
