The Duke University School of Nursing invites applications for full-time faculty positions, that will have primary teaching responsibilities within its ABSN Program.
In 2010, expansion plans for the ABSN program will introduce a second spring entry point for students and additional faculty members will be essential to support the consequent increase in Program enrollment and to contribute to the Program and School's continued growth and success.
Faculty opportunities are available immediately for candidates with current clinical expertise in Adult Health and Geriatrics.
Faculty opportunities for candidates with clinical expertise in Maternal-Newborn, Women's Health, Pediatrics and Community Health Nursing will also be available, with a targeted start date of January, 2010.
The successful candidates for these positions will have earned doctoral degrees in Nursing or a closely related field.
For candidates with doctoral degrees in closely related fields, a Master's degree in Nursing will be required.
Experience in Nursing Education is highly desirable and an appreciation for the linkages between education, practice, research and service is strongly preferred.
Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina is required.
Faculty appointments for these positions will be made at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level, on either the tenure or non-tenure tracks, as determined by the candidate's academic experience and career goals.
Established in 2002, Duke's ABSN degree program is a full-time, intensive 16-month course of professional study, intended for students who have earned an undergraduate degree.
The campus-based program integrates the elements of a traditional four-year BSN curriculum, with topics particularly relevant to today's dynamic health care environment, such as Genetics, Multicultural Care and End-of-life Care.
The Duke University School of Nursing community includes 60 faculty, more than 80 staff members and approximately 450 students.
The educational programs are housed in the new 59,000 square foot School of Nursing building, erected in 2006 and research programs are housed in the adjacent 9,000 square foot Elizabeth C. Clipp Research Building.
