Nominations and applications are invited for a faculty position for the CAATE-accredited athletic training program in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. We are seeking to expand our departmental research program currently supported by our five active, fully equipped research laboratories.
The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, part of the rich collaborative research environment of the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College, offers degrees in athletic training, physical therapy (DPT), and movement sciences (ScD). Additionally, we offer an exciting accelerated athletic training / doctor of physical therapy (AT/DPT) program. BU Sargent College also sponsors professional and post-professional programs in occupational therapy, health sciences, nutrition and communication disorders.
Our well-established athletic training education curriculum provides students with a foundation in the sciences in addition to a comprehensive clinical experience. Over 15 affiliated sites in the Boston area are used to provide multiple clinical education opportunities.
This will be a full-time 9-month position at the Assistant Professor level. Start date: September 2010.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate
- Established line of research with clear direction for the future
- College teaching experience
- Minimum of three years experience as a BOC certified athletic trainer required; eligible for MA license
- Familiarity and experience with post-professional athletic training education programs preferred
- Professional vision consistent with emerging health care patterns and changes in athletic training education
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an externally funded research program
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Supervise graduate students in the ScD program in Rehabilitation Sciences
- Assist with development of post-professional athletic training program
- Teach within the departmental programs as negotiated with the program director and chair
- Academic mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students
- Participate in the development of an interdisciplinary Sports *Medicine Institute
