Assistant/Associate Professor – Tenure Track – Medical Laboratory Sciences

Position Description

The nationally accredited Program in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) at Saint Louis University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty member to join an established and well-respected program. This program is located in the Clinical Health Sciences Department in the Doisy College of Health Sciences and is composed of dynamic, collegial, and multi-disciplinary faculty and staff. The tenure track, 9-month appointment has an anticipated start date of August 19, 2019. Primary responsibilities include: (i) undergraduate teaching in the MLS and Investigative and Medical Science degree programs with opportunities for administrative oversight of NAACLS accreditation; (ii) research and scholarly activities aligned with promotion on the tenure track; and (iii) participation in Department, College and/or University service as well as professional development activities. A competitive total compensation package, including applicable start-up funds, tuition remission for qualified personnel, and a generous retirement plan will be provided. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience.

Position Requirements

Required
o Academic doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD) in a MLS-related discipline
o American Society for Clinical Pathology/National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (ASCP/NCA) certification as a generalist or in a MLS discipline with preference for, but not limited to, immunohematology
o Evidence of ability to teach effectively at the university level
o Experience in grant submissions and/or funding

Preferred
o Postdoctoral fellowship training
o A record of successful external grant funding

Department of Clinical Health Sciences
The Clinical Health Sciences Department houses the Health Information Management, Health Sciences, Investigative and Medical Sciences, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Medical Laboratory Science, Nuclear Medicine Technology and Radiation Therapy programs. Having such a diverse array of programs in one department facilitates interprofessional collaboration on a student and faculty level.
