We invite applications for the Assistant Director of Biostatistics who will have administrative oversight of the Department’s Biostatistics Core and work to grow and advance its work. The successful candidate will also have responsibilities in academic programming and course development in Biostatistics. The person will be a member of the Department Chair’s executive leadership team along with the Graduate Program Director and the Assistant Director of Administration. Areas of research growth in the Department include spatial epidemiology/statistics and statistical methods for intervention trials including multilevel interventions, longitudinal data analysis, and complex health data.

Qualifications. A doctorate in biostatistics, statistics or related field is required. Those with a strong background in methodological and collaborative research are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should have an active, externally-funded research portfolio and research record appropriate to warrant a tenured appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. Cluster hiring of research teams including senior and early career faculty is encouraged. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience. Rank is open at the rank of associate or full professor on the tenure track dependent on qualifications. The Department. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics combines curiosity with rigorous, applied methods that lead us to compelling questions and impactful results to improve public health. Our 11 full-time faculty members conduct research in several areas, such as mediation, causal inference, semiparametric regression, latent variable modeling, and psychometrics as well as behavioral and chronic disease epidemiology, cancer prevention and control, perinatal and reproductive epidemiology, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and waterborne diseases. The Department operates the Biostatistics Core, which engages in collaborative research and offers comprehensive biostatistical consultation and computational services. We annually enroll ~1,400 students with diverse backgrounds in our courses and have ~80 graduate students in five programs – PhD in Epidemiology, MPH degrees in Epidemiology, Applied Biostatistics, and Environmental Health, and MS in Epidemiology. We contribute to the College’s nationally recognized BS in Public Health.

The College. Devoted to an interprofessional environment for academic programming and research, the College of Public Health, a CEPH-accredited school of public health, is a constellation of academic units of public health, social work and health profession disciplines, enrolling 4,300 students. The College’s research focuses on social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, medical/health interventions, and basic science and is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and other major funders. The College has recently launched a new Center focused on Community Engaged Research and Practice. We are harnessing the collective energies of our clinical disciplines through an emerging, innovative framework for interprofessional education.
