Two labs in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences at the University at Buffalo (Cognition, Speech Perception, and Auditory Neuroscience Lab, CSPAN, PI: Dr. Christopher Heffner and Auditory Processing and Perception Lab, APPL, PI: Dr. Mishaela DiNino) are seeking an organized, talented Lab Manager, capable of jointly overseeing two recently established labs.

This individual will work with the PIs to manage and oversee two laboratories that investigate speech perception across a variety of approaches and populations. This includes use of behavioral and neuroimaging methods in both healthy older and younger populations, populations with speech and language disorders such as Parkinson's Disease, and populations with altered hearing such as from hearing loss or a cochlear implant. Some studies take place in community settings at local museums and libraries.

It is anticipated that the Lab Manager will be able to be involved in many aspects of the research process.

The primary responsibility of the Lab Manager will be:
  • Coordinate the activities of the labs, including supervising undergraduate and graduate research assistants who work in the labs
  • Organization of tasks, Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, and records in the labs.
  • May also be involved in aspects of the research production itself, including study design and execution. The Lab Manager will be managing young labs still in development. As such, the individual should be a creative problem-solver with a knack for troubleshooting and finding clever solutions.

Position includes some travel and non-traditional hours to accommodate data collection and supervision (evenings, weekends).
