Outstanding candidates are invited to apply for a post-doctoral research associate position in the laboratory of Dr. Mark Cohen, Dean of the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The translational laboratory space will be currently located within the Cancer Center of Illinois (CCIL) laboratory in the Basement of the Beckman Institute as well as CCIL space on the 3rd floor of the Carle Cancer Cancer building. Additional Simulation laboratory space will be at the JUMP arches simulation laboratory.
Candidates should have research expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Tissue engineering, microfluidics, and 3D-printing of bioscaffolds
- Biomedical innovation and device development
- XR/AR/VR applications in medical simulation and education. In vivo (rodent/mouse) animal handling and procedural experience as well as human cell culture experience is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be working directly with Dr. Cohen on translational science, potential device or XR application development, and clinical piloting at either the medical school JUMP simulation center or at Carle Health. Additional duties include teaching, mentoring, and advising medical students, and developing new industry partnerships and programs.
This is a full-time, 12-month postdoctoral research associate position. The starting date is negotiable but with a preferred start date on or before September 16, 2022. Position will remain open until filled.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or Molecular and Cellular Biology or related field. Experience in either (1) tissue engineering, microfluidics, and 3D-printing of bioscaffolds (2) biomedical innovation and device development, and/or (3) XR/AR/VR application development in medical simulation or education. In vivo (rodent/mouse) animal handling and procedural experience as well as cell culture experience is preferred.
