Charge Nurse, 12 Months
 
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Health Services (SHS), the Charge Nurse provides healthcare services to eligible students within the standard RN scope of practice and is responsible for the care and well-being of University students. The Charge Nurse supervises work programs and activities within the Office of Student Health Services; provides the director, healthcare providers and professional staff with clinical support; and does related work as required. This position requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours as needed.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence.

*Qualifications:  *One (1) year of experience as a professional nurse in a hospital or other institution, clinic, or medical center and valid R.N. license in the State of New Jersey is required.  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; BLS Certification; Certification in Venipuncture; and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse is preferred.  Candidate must demonstrate knowledge, sensitivity and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. This position requires the physical ability to perform essential functions including, but not limited to: the ability to physically lift, move and position clients as needed; and the ability to wear a mask face covering for the duration of the work day.

The selected candidate will be required to pass a four (4) month Working Test Period to become eligible for a regular appointment.
