The UNC Greensboro School of Nursing is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative Post-Doctoral Nursing Scholar to conduct research training at the School of Nursing, with an emphasis on interventions for the prevention and management of chronic illness and health disparities. The initial appointment will be for one or two years. Re-appointment or continuation for the second year is contingent on appropriate productivity (e.g., submitted papers, abstracts, applications for funding) and progress towards training goals during year one. The Post-Doctoral Scholar will work under the supervision of a tenured faculty member who will serve as a mentor. The mentor and trainee will collaborate to develop a training plan that will guide activities and provide evaluation criteria. Trainees may be required to enroll in coursework to enhance their skills. However, academic coursework is not the focus of this position and will be minimal. Trainees will have mentored research experiences with SON and interdisciplinary faculty, including grant writing, research seminars, research team meetings, assisting with data collection/analysis and writing IRB applications. In the process of further developing their own research skills, the Post-Doctoral Scholar will be expected to conduct independent research and assist with the conduct of collaborative research, disseminate research findings in high level journals, engage in the mentoring of graduate students, and contribute productively to the research enterprise of the School of Nursing. The SON considers this post-doctoral position a full-time commitment with very limited outside employment. A competitive salary, tuition assistance, health insurance, and travel and research project funding are available.
