Job Description: The successful candidate will work under the collaborative leadership and direction of Rebecca Palacios, PhD, Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at New Mexico State University and the Wellness Institute of Doña Ana County, a coalition of health care and social service providers. The post-doctoral fellow will analyze existing health surveillance data to identify modifiable health disparities and health inequities in Doña Ana County, conduct qualitative research to elucidate causes and impact of those disparities, and use the results to design potential community actions to mitigate them. During all stages, the fellow will collaborate with health planning and development groups to identify practicable interventions and system changes to promote health equity. The fellow will also help design evaluation strategies to examine program or system change processes and outcomes, where possible. The post-doctoral fellow will disseminate this work through conference presentations, peer review publications, and community outreach activities.
The successful candidate must commit to playing an essential role on interdisciplinary research collaborations designed to promote health equity in diverse populations. The post-doctoral fellow will also mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research.
