Iona College is seeking a Nursing Director to join our team at a very exciting time for our College. As announced in July 2021, Iona College and NewYork-Presbyterian announced the establishment of the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences to be principally located on the College’s Bronxville campus. The NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences is expected to offer a new vision for collaborative health care education, modern workforce development, and community care.

The Director is responsible for the overall direction, supervision, staffing, planning, and organization of the Nursing Program at the College. The successful candidate must possess solid experience in the development and implementation of baccalaureate and masters degree level nursing education programs. In addition, the successful candidate must be familiar with the unique challenges and opportunities in creating new programs and degree pathways including but not limited to RN to MSN, MSN Nursing Education, MSN Leadership and Administration, Post- Masters NP and post baccalaureate BSN.

The Director will lead in advancing innovative programming and oversee the accreditation processes to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations. Focus on excellence in instructional delivery and program continuity will be a key deliverable, as will the recruitment, retention, and successful placement of students.

The Director will establish and execute on annual goals, prepare and manage the budget and participate in the development of marketing strategies and materials for Nursing program. The Director will collaborate with Human Resources to hire and retain a highly-qualified, student-centered faculty for a culturally-diverse learning environment.

Imperative to the Director’s success is the ability to build relationships with internal and external constituents thereby fostering a climate of academic excellence and collegiality among faculty, staff and students to ensure student success. The Director will promote strategies that focus on the student experience and must possess demonstrated skill in the use of technology and distance education to enhance matters of educational policy and student issues relating to and impacting the Nursing Program. This position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Health Sciences.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the department in obtaining program-specific certifications and accreditations where appropriate.
Work with campus administration to ensure compliance with academic, regulatory, and professional accreditation.
Hire and oversee nursing faculty and regularly participate as part of their review team, conduct classroom observations and ensure faculty compliance with all deadlines, professional development requirements, professional certification/licensures, faculty file documentation, etc.
Serve as master teacher, role model, and mentor to faculty in the department and ensure incorporation of up-to-date curriculum and materials in classes. Provide frequent and constructive feedback regarding faculty performance based on pre-determined metrics, observations, and final-course student survey results.
Be ultimately responsible for all aspects of clinical placements by supervising the Clinical Coordinator who will develop appropriate sites and establish procedures for placement and monitoring of students. Help to develop and monitor internships as well as other appropriate externships, internships and practicums as new programs are developed.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Earned doctoral degree (DNP or Ph.D.) in nursing, public health, healthcare administration or other related fields
Graduate of an accredited MSN program
Current licensure or eligibility for RN licensure in New York
Strong teaching background at the college level, specifically in nursing education is required and online teaching experience
National certification and experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse is preferred
History of successful outcomes with accreditation, licensing, and regulatory requirements
3-5 years administrative and supervisory experience in higher education or a related health care industry highly preferred
Knowledge of clinical agency requirements and regulations of NP certifying agencies
Up-to-date professional competence demonstrated by ongoing clinical practice, continuing education, attendance at workshops and conferences or academic coursework
