Position Summary
The Department of Biostatistics, University at Buffalo, seeks to hire an outstanding scientist with research interests in any of the following areas: observational data analysis, data science methods, causal inference, visualization, spatial analysis and inference for digital image processing, and predictive modeling. This is a 12-month, tenure-track, appointment at the Assistant Professor rank, in the Department of Biostatistics that begins August 2020 and it is part of the university-wide initiative on developing expertise in Data Science and analysis of "Big Data".

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally funded independent research program, with emphasis on graduate-level teaching, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, develop interdisciplinary collaborations and engage in service activities. The teaching load associated with this position is one course per semester. The position offers outstanding institutional support and opportunities for collaboration.

The Department of Biostatistics currently offers an undergraduate major and minor in statistics, along with three Masters level programs and a Ph.D. program. For more information about the department, see http://sphhp.buffalo.edu/biostatistics.html.

The School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP), at UB offers programs at every degree level and is the home to the following departments: Biostatistics, Community Health and Health Behavior, Epidemiology and Environmental Health, Exercise Nutrition Sciences, and Rehabilitation Sciences. It is one of only a few schools across the country that includes health-related professions as an integral component of the public health educational and research system. Faculty and students engage in research and community activities designed to improve the health of populations, communities, and individuals. Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have doctoral level training (Ph.D. or equivalent) in statistics/biostatistics or related quantitative fields. Evaluation of candidates will be based on research productivity, potential for development of an independent research program and capability of teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or strong interest in interdisciplinary research.
