The WellStar School of Nursing at Kennesaw State University invites applications for three full time faculty positions in Skills Lab and Simulation Technology:

  • Twelve-month, tenure track Assistant Professor
  • Twelve-month, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor
  • Nine-month, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor



Qualifications and Requirements for tenure track Assistant Professor:

Qualifications include an earned research-focused doctorate in nursing (PhD, DNS) or a related field (EdD) and a Master’s in Nursing degree with clinical specialization. Qualified applicants will have clinical expertise in Skills Lab and Simulation Technology. Applicants must be eligible for or hold RN licensure in the state of Georgia. This position reports to the Director of the Wellstar School of Nursing. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in undergraduate didactic and clinical courses. Other responsibilities include participation in ongoing curricular assessment, scholarly activities, and service in departmental, college, and university committees.

Ideal candidates will possess:
  • Previous teaching experience, including online and/or distance learning formats.
  • Evidence of a beginning program of research and scholarship/creative activities in a focused area.
  • Potential for research collaboration with other faculty members.
  • Capacity for interdisciplinary research.
  • The ability to seek and obtain external research funding.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion.


Applicants desiring appointment at the rank of Associate Professor will have a record of research funding and scholarly productivity in the form of peer reviewed publications and presentations.


Qualifications and Requirements for Clinical Assistant Professor:

Qualifications include an earned Master’s degree in Nursing with clinical specialization or its foreign equivalence. Qualified applicants will have clinical expertise in Skills Lab and Simulation Technology. Applicants must be eligible for or hold RN licensure in the state of Georgia. This position reports to the Director of the Wellstar School of Nursing. Primary teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate level in skills and simulation labs. Classroom, lab, and clinical teaching may be required. Other responsibilities include participation in ongoing curricular assessment and service on departmental, college, and university committees.

Ideal candidates will possess:
  • A clinical doctorate in Nursing (DNP) degree
  • Three or more years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Previous teaching experience, including online and/or distance learning formats.
  • Experience serving as a preceptor for nursing students in clinical settings.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion.

About the Wellstar School of Nursing:
The Wellstar School of Nursing offers BSN and MSN degrees and is one of the largest programs in Georgia. The School graduates more new Baccalaureate nurses than other programs in Georgia. The school currently employs nearly 50 full-time faculty and numerous part-time faculty. A five-year plan to increase undergraduate enrollment will begin Fall 2020. The WSON is housed within the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, which includes departments of Social Work and Human Services, Health Promotion and Physical Education, and Exercise Science and Sports Management.
