Associate Professor/ Professor of Health Equity and Health Disparities
The Department of Health Science at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL is seeking applications for an Associate Professor/Professor of Health Equity and Health Disparities. Responsibilities include research, teaching, and service to articulate the mission of The University of Alabama including the following: maintain an active, focused research program; obtain external funding to support a nationally competitive research program; produce a record of scholarly activity in health equity/health disparities; teach courses as needed at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels; and serve on Departmental, College, and University committees.
The Department of Health Science is one of five in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama. The Department offers degrees in the following programs: BS in Public Health, BSAT in Athletic Training, MA in Health Studies (with health promotion and athletic training options), MPH, and PhD in Health Education and Health Promotion. An MSAT in Athletic Training is in the planning stages.
Qualified candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in health education, health promotion, public health, or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate ability to maintain a productive research agenda addressing issues related to health equity and health disparities. A record of scholarship that includes funded research and peer-reviewed publications is expected. Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate students should be evident. While not required, an MPH degree and CHES/MCHES status or eligibility are preferred.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
