Nursing - Administration Nursing - General Community Health
The College of Nursing at the University of Toledo invites applications from highly-motivated candidates for a full-time, 52-week, benefits-eligible, tenure-track position as the Department Chair of Adult, Family and Population Health. This position is accountable to the dean of the College of Nursing. The department chair is the first line administrator responsible to oversee and work directly with faculty, program directors, program coordinators and clinical associates in addition to advisors, staff, students and administrators in accomplishing the mission, goals and program outcomes for their assigned academic program in the college. This position provides leadership for recruitment and retention of faculty in the college.
The department chair:
Is expected to participate in teaching, scholarly activities and service commensurate with criteria for faculty rank
Is accountable for the achievement of the undergraduate and graduate purposes, goals and program outcomes. This includes program development, implementation and evaluation of outcomes for continuous improvement.
Provides leadership of the department, inclusive of new faculty orientation, faculty staffing/assignments, faculty career development, faculty evaluation and promotion and provides recommendations to the dean for faculty compensation, merit and/or sabbatical leaves.
Collaborates with the members of the college leadership team to develop/deploy budget, recommends faculty development needs and recommends the initiation, renewal or termination of faculty and clinical associate appointments.
Evaluates program director and clinical placement coordinators.
Works collaboratively with the dean, associate dean for academic affairs, associate dean of research & scholarship and assistant dean of student services to develop, implement and evaluate academic programs as it relates to the master plan for evaluation in the college.
Actively contributes to activities related to Ohio Board of Nursing program approval reviews/reports and all university and national accreditation reviews/reports.
Participates in student and faculty orientations; serves as an ex-officio member of appropriate college committees; prepares program documents and reports; and reviews and seeks dean approval of policies/procedures or documents internal or external to the college.
In collaboration with the associate dean of academic affairs, initiates clinical agreements with agencies required for the department to accomplish program goals and outcomes. Coordinates any agency requirements for students and faculty.
