SUMMARY:
The instructor, reporting to the Director of Allied Health, is responsible for teaching Medical Preparation/Health Occupation/Nurse Aide curriculum. The instructor is also responsible for class and equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies/equipment as needed. This is a full time, faculty appointment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Teach and advise students in the Medical Preparation/Health Occupations/Nurse Aide Technology program
Create an effective learning environment for students while using appropriate resources, technology, and pedagogy in the delivery of courses
Assist in recruiting and retention of students
Responsible for instruction to follow approved curriculum and to achieve course student learning outcomes
Evaluate student performance in coursework and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs
Work with student organization HOSA, which includes travel to competitions, fundraising and coordinating students and travel
Maintain student grades and attendance
Order supplies and maintain equipment as needed
Monitor lab competencies and confirm skill levels
Perform all responsibilities and instructional duties in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding the practice of allied health, as well as WCCC/CMU policies and procedures
Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, field trips, and health clinic/hospital student schedules
Maintain good working relations with all clinical affiliates
Develop and maintain program advisory committee (2 meetings a year)
Review and update program curriculum as required by business, industry and in accordance with HLC college curriculum requirements
Review and update course and program assessments
Promote a positive collegiate atmosphere
Maintain necessary professional and educational credentials, clinical skills, and currency appropriate to teaching assignments; apply for CTE credential within 6 months of employment
Participate in professional development activities that facilitate professional expertise in the areas of teaching and maintenance of clinical competence
Participate in local, state, or national allied health related professional associations
Assist with open houses and orientation
Maintain intent to graduate forms
Maintain and manage program budget
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may supervise work-study students
The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities. Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising and service to the department and profession are expected.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
Active unencumbered RN or LPN license
Minimum of 4000 hours (approximately 2 years’ full time) of related occupational experience within the past 5 years
At least 1 year nursing experience in caring for the elderly and/or the chronically ill
Willing to complete a course in teaching adults (e.g. Train the Trainer) OR have documented experience in teaching adults OR at least 1 year experience in managing nurse aides
Basic computer skills and strong communication skills
PREFERRED:
Active unencumbered RN with Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
Have at least 2 years of nursing experience in caring for the elderly and/or the chronically ill of any age of which at least one year must in the provision of services in a long-term care facility
Strong presentation skills
